Blood samples collected for testing allergy

JAMMU, Jan 10: Jerath Path Labs and Allergy Testing Centre collected the samples of blood in Jammu, Udhampur and Katra for testing any type of allergy at minimum rates.
Dr Parshant Jerath said that any type of allergy can be prevented through early diagnose. An allergy refers to an exaggerated reaction by immune system in response to exposure to certain foreign substances, he stated.
He added that the allergy producing substances are called allergens and examples of allergens include pollens, dust mites, molds, animal proteins, foods and even medications. He said that the common symptoms of an allergic reaction to inhaled or skin allergens include itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, running nose, rashes, feeling tired or ill, hives (a rash and raised red patches) and food allergies.
He maintained that tobacco smoke, however, increases risk of allergies enormously, adding that about 40 to 60 percent of people suffer from asthma in their childhood, but the disease goes away in the second decade of their tile.
Pregnant women should definitely avoid smoking to reduce the children’s allergy risk, he said, adding that breast-feeding, preferably for more than four months, is key in keeping allergies at bay.
In addition, the house should be regularly aired and the rooms must be as free as possible of pollutants from furniture, Dr Jerath said.
