MENDHAR, Dec 18: The local youth from Bhata Durian, Ari and adjoining villages in Mendhar held protest demonstration against M/s Patel Constructions company engaged in the construction of Parnai Hydel Power project in the area.
Reports said that about 200 local youth of the area assembled at Bhata Durian and started protest demonstration on the road. They were staging protest at the site where work of Parnai Hydel Power project is going on. These youth alleged that M/s Patel Constructions had assured to accommodate locals in the project work. But even after receiving documents from many local youth, non-locals have been engaged at work while locals have been ignored. They alleged that even the local MLA and Administration is least bothered about the plight of the educated unemployed youth.
After holding protest for about two hours they dispersed. They said that a 7 km tunnel is under construction from Daraba in Surankote to Bhata Durian and most of the workers engaged on this work are from outside. They sought the intervention of the State Government into the matter.
