JAMMU, Dec 14: BJP State secretary, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi has been appointed as Member of the Central Waqf Council (CWC).
It was intimated to her through an official communication from Dr Najma Heptulla, Union Minister for Minority Affairs, a BJP spokesman said.
The letter signed by Dr Heptulla and addressed to Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, said that “with your vast experience and your track record in community service, you bring a great deal of prestige to the Central Waqf Council. I am certain that we would benefit from your very valuable advice and guidance as we embark on a new journey committed to the cause of upliftment of the community promoting our Prime Minister’s agenda of `Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’. I am sure, you will use this important opportunity to commit yourself to the cause of Waqf and the community and in serving the larger cause of our country”.
It is pertinent to mention here that for the first time a woman member from the J&K State has been inducted to Central Waqf Council. Earlier, former PCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz was a member of this prestigious Central Council with Union Minister for Minority Affairs as its chairperson.
