Zulfkar felicitated by Forum of SC/ST Legislators, Parliamentarians

Chandigarh, Dec 9: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has been felicitated by India’s prestigious organization Forum of SC and ST Legislators and Parliamentarians  of India at Chandigarh for his outstanding role in raising the issues of depressed classes.
Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali along with Former Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan were honoured for their role and contribution in raising and settling issues of weaker sections of the society in a function organised to mark celebration of birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
The organization acknowledged the role of Ch Zulfkar Ali in highlighting causes of depressed classes and raising of issues of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes and Residents of Backward Areas (RBA) of Jammu & Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said the dream of Ambedkar is yet to be realized because weaker sections of the society are still fighting for justice. He said that these classes are oppressed since centuries and their condition has not yet been changed for the last more than 6 decades.
He added that a comprehensive mechanism must be adopted for welfare of weaker section and their share must be given to them in all sectors. He added that reservations play vital roles and Government must continue reservations to these people to boost their economic and social standard.
Throwing light on topic ‘B. T Ambedkar – Life Struggle and Contribution’ Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that Dr. Ambedkar vociferously advocated equality in social, economic and political opportunity for all.  He said  there is need to work on the slogan of “Educate, Agitate, Organise and have faith in your strength”. He said that weaker sections of the society must adopt this quadrilateral strategy of empowerment. He said that first step of this strategy was to educate their children so that they know the ills and evils that prevent them from progressing.
He said that educated people of the weaker section of the society must highlight their issues in organized manner so that each issues could be given heed and settled.
