JAMMU, Dec 7: Reiterating commitment of the Coalition Government to develop Jammu as independent tourist destination, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today said that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has a comprehensive vision for the socio-economic growth of Jammu region.
Addressing party workers here today PDP general secretary Ved Mahajan said that PDP in its agenda has also promised to implement a comprehensive programme so that Jammu will remain a favourite tourist destination of tourists and devotees from all over the country and from the aboard. Mr Mahajan mentioned that after direct rail connectivity to the holy town of Katra, there was apprehension that Jammu will lose its importance but PDP led coalition Government has already initiated number of steps to maintain importance of the Jammu city specifically.
Mr Mahajan especially mentioned about the statements of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in which he has said that an appropriate strategy has been devised to create attractive assets in and around the winter capital to sustain tourist footfall, which has a direct bearing on trade and business of the city.
Expressing his gratitude towards coalition regime for promises to develop Jammu as independent tourist destination, Mahajan said that Jammu has its own importance due to rich heritage and historic temples and monuments. He mentioned that directions of the Chief Minister to expedite work on the execution of Jammu Ropeway project would prove as a mile stone in the Jammu tourism. He said that completion of this project would attract good number of tourists. He further said that Government has already announced to complete artificial lake project in Jammu which reflects Government’s commitment to develop new tourist destinations in Jammu region. Mahajan reminded that PDP in its election manifesto had especially emphasized on Jammu city so as to develop this historical city as heritage tourism destination.
