SMHS PG doctors continue strike, patients suffer

Srinagar, Nov 16: Post Graduate (PG) doctors at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital here on today continued their strike against the overburdened duty.
The doctors are on strike since Saturday as they are overburdened to compensate the staff shortage in Kashmir’s largest hospital, SMHS. The PG doctors fumed after they were ordered to work at Triage Ward and Medicinal Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where no Assistant Surgeon is turning for duty for past 15 days.
Due to strike, the routine work in the hospital was adversely affected particularly at In Patient Department (IPD) wards and Out Patient Department (OPD). However the Emergency was running smoothly. Though the hospital administration is trying to pacify the PG doctors from Saturday last week but the deadlock still persists.
