JAMMU, Nov 5: The Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, today organized a one- day Ph D scholars national seminar on the topic “the Art of Ismat Chugtai and Rajinder Singh Bedi in the opinion of budding writers”.
This was the first such kind of seminar, in which Ph D scholars of Kashmir University, Jammu University, JNU, New Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia and others universities of the country, participated and presented paper on legendary fiction writers Rajinder Singh Bedi and Ismat Chugtai.
This program was organized in connection with the centenary celebrations of Rajinder Singh Bedi and Ismat Chugtai. Near about twenty Ph D scholars presented their papers on various aspects of legendary two short story writers. They described Rajinder Singh Bedi and Ismat Chugtai as the pillars of Urdu short story, who gave Urdu various short stories, which have great relevance in present time also.
The seminar was inaugurated by JU Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, who said that such types of seminars should be organized by the other departments also, so that Academic atmosphere on the campus could go higher and higher. “By organizing these types of programs we can also enhance the Research quality of the scholars,” he added.
The VC called upon the scholars to make writing their regular habit and also to get them published in the leading research journals where it gets reviewed. He asked the students to use the social media for sharing their ideas and also for interaction with regard to their research work.
Earlier, in his welcome address, HOD Urdu, Prof Shohab Inayat Malik threw light on the aims and objectives of the one-day national seminar. He said that papers presented in the seminar would be published in the six monthly Research journal TASASUL.
Prof Sukhchain Singh, Prof Qudoos Javed and Dr Riyaz also spoke on the ocassion.
Proceeding of the program was conducted by Dr Mohd Reyaz Ahmed, Associate Professor of the department of Urdu.
