JAMMU, Oct 30: Army proposed to hold entire process of its recruitment on-line from now onwards and was ready to hold direct recruitment rallies in remote areas, from where the participation was less due to lack of computers and internet, provided that the civil administration was ready to make arrangements.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Army’s recruitment rally at Sunjwan, Brig JS Samyal, Deputy Director General Recruitment (Incharge Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir), said the process for all future recruitments will be on-line on the pattern of today’s recruitment rally.
Asserting that on-line system was good for both Army and the candidates, he admitted that response to the rally was less from border and remote districts due to lack of computers and internet services but said the local Army units have been asked to help candidates in filling up the forms.
“The local Army units have helped the candidates for current recruitment rally also,’’ he said.
Referring to very few candidates qualifying the physical test, Brig Samyal said the mobile telephones and motor bikes have taken their toll on the youth. “They remain busy with bikes and mobile phones and pay less attention towards physical activities,’’ he observed and said in the previous rallies more youths used to qualify physical tests compared to the ongoing rally.
Replying to a question on Dogra certificate, the Army officer said it was not compulsory for recruitment as the Army has fed all Dogra castes in the computers, which indicate the Dogras.
He said over 34,000 candidates have registered themselves for the ten-day army recruitment rally that is being conducted for the aspirants of the 10 districts of Jammu region from October 30 to November 10.
“A total of 34,211 candidates have registered for the recruitment rally that started from today,” Brigadier Samyal said. He said this year the candidates willing to join the army were asked to register online.
“For the first time in Jammu and Kashmir the rally is being conducted on an online system of registration of candidates which is a departure from the earlier open rally system,” he said.
He said that the online registration of candidates would also help the recruiting agency to properly manage the crowd that turns up for the recruitment.
“Earlier, we had no idea about how many candidates would turn up for the rally, but with the online system we can regulate the crowd and can make adequate arrangements,” Brig Samyal said.
He said that the candidates belonging to Samba, Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur, Rajouri, Reasi, Poonch, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar district would take part in the ten-day long recruitment rally from which the successful candidates will be inducted into various arms and services of the army.
While cautioning the candidates from falling into the trap of tout, he said that the recruitment process was fully transparent which provides no scope for touts.
“The recruitment process is transparent which leaves no scope for touts, the candidates and their families must not fall in the trap of such touts,” he said.
