Vendors meet, debate contests mark Day-3 of Vigilance Week by Power Grid

JAMMU, Oct 28: Organizing of vendors meet and debate competitions marked the third day of observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2015 by Power Grid Corporation of India, Northern Region Transmission System-II, here today at its Regional Head quarters, Jammu.
Senior Executives from all the major vendors of Power Grid attended the meet. Prominent companies that attended the meet, included KEC International Ltd., Skipper Ltd., L&T, Ranjit Singh & Company, Gammon India Ltd., Siemens, TATA Projects, NGG, Crompton Greaves, Alsthom, & KPTL.
Top officers of Power Grid Northern Region-II, including Executive Director S K Sharma, Executive Director (Kurukshetra) R K Chouhan, General Manager (AM), A K Pal and General Manger (Projects) S D Joshi were present on the occasion.
S K Sharma deliberated on major challenges being faced during execution of projects including survey, forest clearances, project management, safety, various licenses, storage of equipment etc. He asked the vendors to sensitize their quality staff for improving quality standards so that failures on account of workmanship and manufacturing are eliminated.
R K Chouhan impressed upon the vendors to take care of their pressing needs in connection with timely execution of projects and work in synchronism with Power Grid team.
Brain storming presentations were also made by various departments including Safety, Vigilance, Engineering, Contracts and Finance. Vendors put up their points of view on various subjects and also shared their experiences and difficulties being faced by them during the execution of the works.
In another event at National Institute of Technology, Srinagar (NIT), Power Grid Corporation of India organized a debate competition on the topic “Is corruption free India possible “.
Students from reputed institutions of Srinagar including NIT Srinagar, S P College, Degree College, Bemina, Government Women’s College Nawakadal and Kashmir University participated in this debate competition. Amarjit, General Manager Power Grid was the chief guest and Parameet Singh Chahal AGM Vigilance was the guest of honour.
Senior officers from Power Grid, including S M Kandwal, AGM (J&K) and faculty members of NIT were present on this occasion. Safia Mehran of Government Women College stood first, Faakirah of Kashmir University got second and Sajadul- Haq of Kashmir University got third positions.
