JAMMU, Sept 21: Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Bishnah and senior BJP leader, Ashwani Sharma today asked Pakistan to refrain from testing the patience of India by resorting to unprovoked firing on civilian areas on International Border in Jammu region.
He warned Pakistan of dire consequences if it doesn’t stop its stupidity by indulging in provocation and sending terrorists to destabilise the peaceful atmosphere in the State.
Addressing a public meeting at Trewa border village of Bishnah Assembly Constituency today, Ashwani Sharma said that due to shelling and firing from across the border, lives of people have become miserable. “We want peace on the borders so that people could get the chance to live a peaceful life without having fear of getting killed in the border firing. Till the time guns remain silent people will be the primary beneficiary of that,” Sharma added.
“Our government at the Centre is not compromising with the defense of the country and has retaliated with much more force to the Pakistani shelling. We want peace on borders and between the two countries but not at the cost of lives of our soldiers and people living on the border,” Sharma said adding that Pakistan must put an end to the cross border shelling and terrorism.
Maintaining that BJP led NDA Government at Centre has done many things for border people which include approving construction of community bunkers for people which will keep them safe at the time of shelling from across the border, announcing compensation ranging from one lakh to five lakh for people whose land has come under border fencing, former MLA Bishnah said that Government of India is well aware of the problems being faced by border residents.
“Narendra Modi led Government is committed for the welfare of the border residents and time is not far away when five Marlas plots will be provided to the border people at safer places so that they are able to find a safe zone at the time of any eventuality on the IB.
