NIA court grants Showkat’s custody

JAMMU, Sept 2: In the much publicized Udhampur attack case, court today granted 14 days police custody of Showkat Ahmed Bhat a resident of Pulwama, who was arrested by NIA yesterday.
The Assistant Investigation Officer of NIA, DySP Rajesh Bakshi today produced Showkat Ahmed Bhat before the court for seeking police custody. The Special Judge NIA, Y P Kotwal granted 14 days police remand of Bhat.
“Perusal of the file reveals that investigation of the case is in progress and for taking investigation to its logical conclusion, custodial interrogation of the accused who had allegedly transported the accused Naved and others from border area to their hide out, is required”, the court said.
The court directed the NIA to produce the accused before the competent court on the expiry of remand period and accused be medically examined after every 48 hours.
