JAMMU, July 2: Jammu Media Joint Action Committee (JMJAC) comprising directors, producers, writers, actors and technicians from Jammu today held a protest dharna outside Doordarshan Kendra Jammu in support of their long pending demands.
The protesting committee members raised slogans in support of their demands which include formation of 24×7 Satellite Duggar Channel for upliftment of cultural heritage of Jammu, which comprised of several languages like Hindi, Dogri, Pahari, Bhaderwahi, Gojri, Kishtwari, Punjabi and Kashmiri.
The committee also demanded restoration of commissioning of programmes at DD Kashir Channel as there has been no commissioning of programmes since 2009. It also demanded restoration of in house programs from Doordarshan Jammu as well as DD Srinagar, as the same has been stopped long ago putting all the TV fraternity at rest.
The protesting committee members also asserted for immediate release of backlog payments due to different categories of participants connected with television and the restoration of CBR/Acquisition and royalty category programmes from all the three Kendras of Jammu, Srinagar and Leh as the same has been stopped long back.
The protestors also raised the demand of restoration of commissioning at Jammu, Srinagar and Leh DDK, as there is no local commissioning after 2003-04 due to unknown reasons.
The protesting committee members alleged that there has been not a single word from Doordarshan authorities about the acceptance of these demands so far, which has forced them to choose the path of agitation.
Later, the protestors submitted a memorandum of their demands to the Director, Doordarshan Kendra Jammu with the request to forward their demands to the high command at Delhi.
