JAMMU, June 1: In a drive against drugs smuggling launched by IGP Jammu Zone Danish Rana, Jhajjar Kotli police nabbed two narcotic smugglers including a Special Police Officer (SPO) from Saketar area of Domail.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Jhajjar Kotli police station asked two persons including SPO to stop on suspicious grounds in Saketar area of Domail.
On seeing the police party, the duo tried to fled, but were chased by the active cops of Jhajjar Kotli police station and nabbed near some distance.
During checking, police recovered 1.3 kilograms of charas from their possession and arrested both the narcotic smugglers.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Sheikh, son of Abdul Gani Sheikh of district Ramban and Mohammad Rafi Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar of Mahore.
Mohammad Rafi Dar is SPO in Police Department and is posted at Gali Post Gool in district Ramban. He was unauthorized absent from duties since last Saturday. Mohammad Shafi Sheikh has already spent 8 years in jail in NDPS Act case and was recently released from the jail.
A case under FIR number 56/15 under Section 8/20/29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them at police station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation taken up.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station SI Hilal Azhar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Rural Rajive Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
