JAMMU, Apr 5: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today visited various areas in Gandhi Nagar constituency and took stock of the ongoing developmental works in the area.
Accompanied by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Soujanya Sharma, Chief Engineer R&B, Jammu and other senior officers of R&B and JMC, Mr Gupta also visited Panama Chowk and Narwal. The Speaker instructed the concerned departments to conduct a survey and prepare a comprehensive plan for improving drainage system and submit report to the Government so that the funds could be arranged for the purpose on priority.
The Speaker inspected the construction work of alternate road connectivity from Military Hospital to Nikki Tawi area via Bericharana road costing Rs. 56 crore. He also inspected construction work on subways at Gangyal, Jeevan Nagar and Digiana Ashram involving a cost of Rs. 2.5 crore. Mr. Gupta directed the executing agencies to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing developmental works and complete them in stipulated time frame with judicious use of funds and standard material.
Earlier, the Speaker convened a meeting with the officers of Roads and Buildings Department and reviewed the overall progress of works undertaken by the department in Gandhi Nagar constituency.
It was informed in the meeting that 90 schemes at an estimated cost of Rs. 296 crore have taken up under State Plan, NABARD, District Plan and CRF during the year 2014-15.
Addressing the meeting, the Speaker said that the Government is committed to provide better basic amenities to all. He instructed the officers to prepare a detailed report after a proper survey for improving the road connectivity in the area especially lower belt like Chatha and its adjacent areas.
