NAGROTA Apr 5: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today asked Bharatiya Janata Party to shun the politics of rhetoric and get into deliverance by accomplishing what they had been claiming during the past six decades.
“Governance is all about delivery, especially in a state like Jammu and Kashmir which is facing numerous challenges”, Mr Rana said while addressing a public meeting in Panchayat Dhanu of Mathwar Block in Nagrota, adding that during the past 60 years BJP in its avatars as Praja Parishad and Jana Sangh had been blaming the successive Governments of mis-governance and not meeting the aspirations of the people.
He said if BJP really believes that the Governments in the past had failed in meeting the urges of the people and steering the state to peace, progress and development, its leaders should set right the wrongs. “The opportunity the BJP has got is a litmus test for its leaders”, he added.
“Now that the BJP has come into power in Jammu and Kashmir, it should pass the public scrutiny in terms of what its leaders had been claiming”, he said adding that history is replete of instances when saffron leaders indulged in negativism and criticism. He asked the BJP leaders to fullfil their commitments and the dreams they had been showing to the people by proving their mettle.
He said the first month of PDP-BJP has been full of contradictions with each playing to respective galleries by raking up contentious issues instead of setting the agenda for development. In this context, he referred to the inflammatory posturing adopted by the duo and said at times the duo behaved like opponents rather than complimentary and supplementary to each other, which is the essence of coalition. “This sort of politics can prove highly detrimental to the interest of people in general and the state in particular”, he maintained.
The Provincial President took dig at BJP and said the party seems to have lost the direction after getting into power. “Though the compromise by the party on fundamentals is its internal matter, yet the signals emanating speak volumes about rift and disagreement over various issues”, he said, fearing that these can adversely impact the administration.
Mr Rana also referred to the grim situation caused by recent incessant rains, landslides and flash floods and called for devising a contingency plan to meet any eventuality in near future, especially the monsoon season.
The Provincial President sought immediate survey of the losses caused due rains and provision of compensation in terms of financial aid and free rations to the affected families.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included former Mayor Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Dr Gafoor, Sham Lal Sharma (Block President), Sarpanch Anwar, Sarpanch Ravinder Singh, Sarpanch Balbir Singh, Sarpanch Nachetar Singh, Sai Khan (Ex Sarpanch) Talib Hussain (Panch), Rajpal (Panch), Mohd.
