KATHUA, Mar 27: A motorcyclist was killed while his pillion rider was seriously injured after the bike they were riding was hit by a tralla bearing number RJ 07 GA 0087 at Mirpur under the jurisdiction of Raj Bagh Police Station today.
As per reports, the deceased has been identified as Dharam Paul, son of Mukhtiar Chand of Mirpur while the injured pillion rider was identified as Naresh Singh of Pathankote (Punjab).
Police said the motorcyclist died on spot and his dead body was kept in SDH Hiranagar for postmortem. It will be handed over to family members after postmortem tomorrow.
The eyewitness said that the motorcyclist while trying to over take the tralla on Highway was hit by the vehicle resulting into the instant death of the motorcyclist.
The injured person has been shifted to district Hospital Kathua where he is under going treatment.
The driver of the tralla was identified as Ashok Kumar. He was arrested by Raj Bagh police and a case under section 304/237 was registered against him.
