SRINAGAR, Feb 14: The residents of Alsafa Colony, Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are facing power crisis as the Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to replace an old damaged transformer.
The residents told Excelsior their existing transformer was developing frequent technical snags due to which hundreds of families have to reel under darkness.
They said, few years ago, the PDD has installed this transformer as per population in the area, but since then the population has increased.
“The population has almost doubled as dozens of news families settled in the area but PDD has not increased the transformer capacity,” they said, adding, because of which the transformer gets damaged most of the time.
“We even can’t use electricity as per schedule,” they added.
