JAMMU, Jan 13: President of All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association Inderjeet Khajuria today said that in the public interest state should remain under Governor’s rule till stable and viable Government is formed to complete full term. As the state has already suffered total neglect on the aspect ongoing projects continuously due to imposition of Model Code of Conduct during Parliamentary election followed by assembly elections, the impositionof Governor’s rule was only alternative, he said while addressing a meeting of Association.
Mr Khajuria urged the Governor to ensure resumption of execution of works on the otherwise stalled tourism related Jammu Mega Projects including Artificial Lake Project on Tawi river; Mubarak Mandi-Bahu Fort Cable Car Project; Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex; Inter State Bus Terminal with Multistoried Shopping-cum-Parking Complex; Upgradation of Hari Singh Park; Upgradation & Extension of International Airport, Jammu; Upgradation of Manda Wild Life Sanctuary to the Level of National Park; Mono Rail Project, Jammu; Development of Wet Lands at Mansar & Surinsar; due Publicity of Aquarium at Bahu Fort; development of Ambaran Buddhist site; New Lover Site at Hamitpur-Sidhar, Khour; Water-cum-Amusement Park at Bhour Camp, Jammu; and Excel World at Bhour Camp, Jammu.
While enumerating, the places of tourist attraction, Mr Khajuria expressed his dissatisfaction claiming that the exploitation of tourism potential has always remained a problem otherwise there is dearth of attractive avenues of tourist importance in Jammu province.
Speaking further, Mr Khajuria expressed his concern on false promises made by politicians on different occasions with the tourism related traders in Jammu. Despite promises that Jammu shall not be allowed to become Pathankot as a result of train-link to Katra, the same has turned futile as the Jammu tourism related business has dwindled to a large extent, he added.
Mr Khajuria appealed the Governor for his personal intervention and interaction with tourism related traders as there is every possibility of further deterioration of the trade, which will affect the survival of 5 lakh souls depending on this trade, who are at the verge of starvation. Jammu needs to be made an independent tourist destination for the betterment of state, he said.
