Explosives haul in Surankote

JAMMU, Jan 13: Police and Army today thwarted a terror plot by effecting recovery of large quantity of explosive material from a hideout at village Tatakuti in Hill Kaka area of Surankote in Poonch district. Recoveries were made after three days long search operation in the area.
The areas from where the recoveries were made borders Budgam district of Kashmir.
Troops of 6 Rashtriya Rifles and police conducted joint searches in Hill Kaka area and made recoveries from Tata Kuti in a hideout of the militants.
Recoveries included two Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs), two Chinese grenades, one AK magazine, 103 Pika rounds, 51 AK rounds, one binocular, two bombs, one I Com wireless set battery, four remote control IEDs and one local made IED with blue plastic bucket with lid.
With the recoveries, Army and police have foiled the militant plot to carry out terror strikes, official sources said.
Police parties from Surankote headed by SDPO Ajay Sharma made the recoveries under the supervision of SSP Poonch Jatinder Singh Johar.
