RAJOURI, Dec 29: The District Secretary of the PDP from Rajouri, Qazi Khursheed, accompanying newly elected MLA Rajouri, Qamar Hussain, died in a road accident on Mughal Road last night.
While the MLA was travelling in his own vehicle, some of his supporters and party office bearers were accompanying him in two different vehicles. They left late in the evening from Rajouri and were on way to Srinagar via Mughal Road. The mishap took place at around 11 pm when the Bolero vehicle No. JK11A/6869 in which Qazi Khursheed was sitting, slipped at a curve and turned turtle. Due to some snow on the road ahead of Pir ki Gali, the road had turned slippery.
While three others sustained minor injuries, Qazi sustained head injury and turned unconscious. The injured were rushed to Shopian hospital by the MLA and other party workers where Qazi Khursheed Ahmed (a retired ASI and Distt Secy of PDP), resident of Rajdani in Thannamandi was declared as dead. The MLA then left aside his Srinagar meeting and returned to Thannamandi alongwith dead body early morning. The injured persons were also provided treatment in Shopian Hospital.
Medical Superintendent of Shopian Hospital, Dr Ismail disclosed that Qazi Khursheed had already died on the way. “We received his dead body. He was declared dead in hospital. Three others had sustained minor injuries and they were given first aid there and then discharged,” he added.
Meanwhile, burial of the late PDP leader took place at his home villager Rajdani in Thannamandi in which a large number of people from all walks of life participated.
