JAMMU, July 26: Chairman Legislative Council Amrit Malohtra has urged upon the devotees with heart, diabetics and respiratory problems not to undertake high altitude Shri Amarnath ji pilgrimage
The Chairman was interacting with pilgrims after reviewing the arrangements being made by the district administration for the Shri Amarnath ji and Shri Budha Amarnath ji yatra at Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar, here today.
The Chairman advised the devotees to get a thorough medical examination done before leaving for the pilgrimage to avoid any eventuality on way to the holy shrine. He also inquired from the devotees about the facilities available at the yatri Niwas.
The Chairman later chaired a meeting of District administration Jammu attended by Development Commissioner Sanjeev Verma, SSP Prabhat Singh besides other senior officers of Tourism, R&B, PHE, PDD, JMC, health and representatives of social organisation.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Malohtra asked the administration to ensure medical check-up of every devotee before allowing them to proceed for the onward journey. He told the medical fraternity to issue health fitness certificates to only healthy devotees and advise those with problems to sever their yatra plans for the safety of their life. He asked the medicos at Yatri Niwas to provide best possible medicare facilities to the ailing yatries.
The Chairman Legislative Council said that the Government has further augmented healthcare facilities on the twin routes to the holy cave with additional specialist doctors, cardiac care unit, oxygen cylinders, mobile medical camps including sufficient stock of medicines to attend to the seriously ill pilgrims.
He said various steps have also been taken to improve arrangements for shifting of critical patients to the base camps and thereafter to the nearest established hospitals at Brarimarg, Sangam, Pissu, Zojibal, Nagakoti besides in Srinagar for prompt and appropriate treatment.
He asked the Tourism Department to check that devotes have with them adequate warm clothes before making their registration so that they do not face any inconvenience enroute to the shrine.
For improving the facilities for Shri Amarnathji and Shri Budha Amar Nath ji yatries, Mr. Malohtra asked the Tourism Department to install air conditioners in halls. He asked for installing the LCDs in the premises as well as halls of the Yatri Niwas and screen the informative audio, video capsules on the Yatra about the dos and don’ts during the yatra.
