JAMMU, Dec 14: A cardiac diseases evaluation camp was today organized at Vikram border outpost of 192 battalion of BSF in RS sector. More than 150 BSF jawans were examined during the camp.
The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr Sushil K Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology Government Medical College, Jammu along with a team of doctors which consisted of Dr Nasir, Dr Mohi Kalsotra, Dr D Kapoor and paramedics including Kashmiri Lal and Raj Singh along with volunteers comprising Mr Gourav Sharma Lokesh , Atul and Rakesh.
A large number of security persons from adjoining border posts availed the benefits of this camp which included clinical examination and investigations like ECG and blood sugar. Dr Sushil Sharma stressed upon the jawans create awareness about risk factors like Hypertension, Diabetes, Hyperlipidaemia, Obesity, Sedentary life style, use of tobacco products and excessive alcohol intake so that the cardiovascular diseases are prevented which were, otherwise, alarmingly increasing.
Dr Sharma also highlighted the various distressing measures which are the need of the hour as the Jawans are more prone to stressful situations. Further this camp was also important where in the role of security personnel in ensuring peace along the borders was also highlighted.
The Commandant of Battalion SPS Sandhu and Dr Sanjeev Kumar expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sushil and His team for their painstaking and humanitarian effort to conduct such camp in Vikram post, thereby, boosting the morale of the soldiers.
