JAMMU, Dec 10: To bring awareness among the people especially voters residing in areas that witnessed comparatively lower voter turnout during the last Lok Sabha elections, a Mega Awareness Programme was organized by SVEEP Team of District Election Officer, Jammu at Gujjar Basti, Beli Charana and Channi Rama under Wakeup Jammu here today.
Hundreds of students, employees of Education Department, Anganwari Workers ASHA workers and BLOs also participated in the road march and door to door campaign.
An EVM hands on training session was also held in which demonstration about EVM handling as well as how to cast vote was made. People were also educated about the facility of VVPAT and how a voter can verify his vote. BLOs and Anganwari workers were directed to further intensify door to door campaign in these low turnout areas.
Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu and G.M DIC Jammu also visited Chhanni Rama and distributed Sankalp Patras among the students to ensure the participation of their parents in the coming phase of Assembly elections on 20th December, 2014.
People also enquired about their queries from the experts presented in the Mobile Voter Registration Van (Democracy Express) in which online voter registration facility was available.
