Army chief on 2 days visit from July 28

JAMMU, July 24: Army chief Gen Bikram Singh is visiting Kashmir valley on a two days tour from July 28 to review security scenario and discuss other matters with Army top brass.
Official sources said Gen Singh would have a high level review of security scenario in the Kashmir valley with Army’s top officers especially after the reports that some militants had succeeded in infiltration from Kupwara.
He was expected to visit some forward areas of the LoC.
The Army chief may also meet Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss security situation with them.
This would be Gen Singh’s second visit to the State after taking over as the Army chief on June 1.
Earlier, he had visited Northern Command Headquarters in Udhampur and Srinagar during his first visit within few days after the takeover.
