Agri Deptt holds farmers workshop

RAJOURI, Nov 17: The Agriculture Department which has launched a campaign under ATMA Scheme has advised the farming community to grow crops like wheat mustard and vegetable organically.
The advise was given during the two days training programme on organic farming to promote sustainable agriculture during Rabi season by Joint Director Agriculture, (Extension) A K Malhotra. The workshop was held a Rajouri and farmers from twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch participated in it.
He said due to continuous use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides the condition of the soil has deteriorated to a great extent besides the environment has become also polluted to a significant level.
He said the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has resulted residual effect in the vegetables, fruits and other eatables resulting number of diseases being caused to human beings and animal as well.
Chief agriculture Officer Sadaqat Ali , Project Officer SUVIDHA Haridesh Kumar  and Dr Vinod Gupta form KVK Rajouri also spoke on the occasion.
