RAJOURI, June 6: A tragic accident occurred on Saturday evening at Kakora village of Manjakote, in Rajouri district when a JCB machine engaged in road construction work overturned, leaving two persons seriously injured.
The police said mishap took place when the JCB was returning after completing construction work. The operator, while reversing at a particular spot, failed to notice the edge of the road and the machine rolled down into a gorge. In the accident, Zahin Khan (24), son of Mohammad Aslam, a resident of Kakora, who was working as a helper on the JCB, and Mohd Maroof, son of Mohammad Rashid, a resident of Chatri, Chingus, the JCB operator, sustained serious injuries.
Both the injured were immediately shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Manjakote. However, doctors declared Zahin Khan as dead on arrival. Due to the critical nature of his injuries, Mohd Maroof was referred to the Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri, for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, a road accident occurred near the Children’s Park in Rajouri on Saturday when an Alto car bearing registration number JK11E-8752 collided with a Baleno car bearing registration number JK02CJ-2511, resulting in injuries to the driver of the car.
The Alto vehicle reportedly hit the Baleno car, causing damage to both vehicles and leading to injuries to the Baleno driver, identified as Toseef Riaz, son of Mohammad Riaz and a resident of Dhanore.The injured was hospitalised. The police has taken cognizance.
