SRINAGAR, June 6: IGP Traffic J&K, M. Suleman Choudhary, today visited Pahalgam axis to take stock of the preparations being made for ensuring smooth, safe and hassle-free movement of traffic during the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.
The IGP was accompanied by Liaqat Ali, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir and other concerned officers and they conducted a detailed inspection of all designated parking slots for Yatra vehicles established along the route.
The IGP also reviewed traffic regulation points, lanes, by-lanes, road cuts, market areas, diversion points, vulnerable stretches and other critical locations falling en-route to ensure effective traffic management during the pilgrimage.
He further visited various halting points and assessed the arrangements being put in place for regulation of vehicular movement and parking.
The IGP directed officers to ensure that all traffic management measures are implemented well in advance of the Yatra.
During inspection, the officer briefed the concerned officers regarding their roles and responsibilities and stressed on the importance of maintaining a visible and efficient traffic management system.
He also instructed the officers to identify and address potential bottlenecks, ensure proper placement of traffic signages and barricades and maintain adequate deployment at all critical points for smooth regulation of traffic.
The IGP Traffic emphasized that special attention should be given to parking management, route diversions and facilitation of emergency services.
