LEH, June 1: The Ladakh Administration has intensified efforts to achieve 100% rooftop solarisation of government buildings under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and has asked all departments to identify and report buildings suitable for installation of rooftop solar systems.
According to a circular issued by the Chief Engineer, Distribution, Power Development Department, rooftop solar plants have already been installed on 1,496 government buildings across Ladakh with a cumulative capacity of 6.9 MW up to 2025-26.
As part of the drive to maximize the use of rooftop spaces and promote sustainable energy, all Heads of Departments and concerned officers have been directed to furnish details of government buildings that are yet to be covered but are feasible for solar installations.
The information will be submitted to higher authorities for further action aimed at expanding renewable energy infrastructure in the Union Territory.
