JAMMU, May 26: Two -day faculty orientation workshop on “Strengthening Project Based Learning and Design Your Degree (DYD) Pedagogy” was conducted with great enthusiasm and active participation at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu under the aegis of Cluster University of Jammu.
The theme for the day was “Project Preparation, Innovation and Collaborative Learning.” The day witnessed insightful academic session by Prof Alka Sharma on the topic “Innovative Teaching Strategies for DYD Pedagogy.” She emphasized on the importance of learner-centric approaches, experiential learning, creativity, and the integration of innovative classroom practices to make higher education more engaging and outcome-oriented.
This was followed by an enriching session by Prof K S Charak, Professor, Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu, on the topic “Mathematics without Phobia.” The speaker highlighted on practical and student-friendly methods to overcome fear of mathematics and stressed the need for creating an encouraging learning environment that promotes logical thinking and conceptual clarity among students.
In the hands-on session on project preparation, faculty members collaboratively worked on designing innovative project models and interdisciplinary learning activities. The session provided a practical platform for teamwork, brainstorming, and application of project-based learning concepts.
A panel discussion was also organized wherein experts and participants deliberated upon the effective implementation of project based learning and DYD pedagogy in higher education institutions. Various challenges, opportunities, and best practices were discussed during the session.
The workshop concluded with the valedictory session featuring evaluation and workshop feedback from participants. Faculty members appreciated the relevance and effectiveness of the workshop and expressed that the sessions had significantly enhanced their understanding of innovative pedagogical practices, collaborative learning, and project preparation techniques.
