KATHUA, May 26: A drone was found in Hatli area of Kathua district last night prompting security agencies to heighten surveillance and launch a probe, officials said today.
They said the drone was found near Govindsar Railway Station road in Hatli belt of the district on Monday night.
“Last night, we received information that a drone had been spotted under the jurisdiction of Hatli Police Post (PP),. Immediately, our team reached the spot and seized the drone,” Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Sunil Kesar told reporters here, today.
An investigation has been launched into the matter, he said. “A thorough verification is being carried out to ascertain whether anything related to such an object is present in the surrounding area,” he added.
Kesar said that keeping in view the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra, all security agencies are on alert and efforts are underway to gather every possible piece of information related to the incident.
He said the police have taken the drone into its custody and there is nothing to panic. “The general public also needs to be alert and coordinate with police and should share every information with police in future.
He said security forces including police are on high alert as the Amarnath Yatra is going to start in first week of July.
