‘Rs 2 cr to be spent on infrastructure’

JAMMU, May 24: Member Legislative Assembly, Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan today declared that Zamalpur village of Kathua constituency will be developed as Viksit Village.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan today visited Zamalpur village of Kathua constituency along with former Sarpanch Bijjit Uttam Singh and former Sarpanch Mehtabpur Panchayat Dilawar Singh and former Panches of both these Panchayats.
It is pertinent to mention here that Zamalpur village was badly devastated during the cloud burst and resultant floods of 16th August 2025 which damaged village lanes, drains, wells, houses and disrupted road and power supplies for months altogether.
The villagers of Zamalpur who were present on the occasion thanked MLA for considering the remotest village of the constituency for development which bore the wrath of nature last year.
BDO Keerian Gandyal Block, Ms. Sukriti Koul, was present on the occasion.
Later MLA inagurated three protection works executed in the village for which funds were authorised by MLA out of his CDF.
MLA, while speaking on the occasion assured villagers that two crore rupees will be spent to build up infrastructure of connectivity, inner roads and water supply of the village.
He also assured that the village would be connected with the motorable road after taking up with the higher authorities.
Romi Sharma, Principal New Era Public School, Krishan Singh, Thuru Ram, Parveen Singh, Balwinder Singh, Bhanu Partap, Amit Sudan and other villagers were present on the occasion.
