UDHAMPUR, May 24: The historic two-day annual Bamat Mela commenced today in the Lander-Panchari area amid vibrant cultural and religious fervour, featuring traditional folk dances, devotional songs, yoga demonstrations and sports competitions.
Thousands of people, including officers from various departments, educationists, artists, students, sportspersons, youth, senior citizens, men and women, gathered at the picturesque green hillock of Bamat in Lander, where the ancient shrine of Baba Jatron is situated, and enjoyed the scenic beauty of the area.
Among the prominent personalities present on the opening day were Director Finance JKPTCL Archana Kumari, SSP Benam Tosh, MLA Chenani Balwant Singh Mankotia, Tehsildar Panchari Bipin Kumar, SHO Panchari DySP (Probationary) Reetu Sharma, Principal GHSS Lander Sanjay Pakhru, headmasters of GHSS Kansal and GHSS Katti, officers of the Youth Services and Sports Department, besides several other dignitaries.
The inaugural session of the Mela was marked by impressive yoga performances, devotional prayers, colourful cultural presentations and various sports competitions, drawing enthusiastic participation from people of all age groups.
