SAMBA, May 22: Tightening noose against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba police has foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal, arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued 12 bovines. The vehicle used in the illegal transportation of bovines was also seized.
Police said acting on an information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number, JK02DE-5297at Naka NHW Tapyal which was coming from Kathua side. During checking, 12 bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. All the bovines have been rescued and the vehicle has also been seized, police added.
The bovine smugglers identified as Ramzan Khan, son of Rafiq Ahmed of Jandial tehsil Bhalwal district Jammu has been arrested.
A case FIR No. 52/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station, Ghagwal and investigation started.
