KATRA, May 20: Katra Police arrested a notorious criminal within hours after he attempted a murderous assault on a person, here today.
The accused, identified as Surinder Kumar alias Babbu, had allegedly attempted to kill Jaswant Singh, son of Maan Singh, resident of Dhandal, Udhampur and a complaint in this regard was lodged yesterday at Police Station Katra.
Acting on the complaint, Police Station Katra registered FIR No. 152/2026 under Sections 109, 351(1), 351(3), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigation was immediately initiated.
Using technical assistance and sustained efforts, the police team of PS Katra swiftly tracked and apprehended the accused within 4-5 hours of the case registration. Further investigation is underway.
It is pertinent to mention that the accused is also involved in previous criminal cases registered at Police Station Katra, including: FIR No. 24/2006 under Sections 376/511/341 RPC and FIR No. 47/2009 under Sections 302/307/323/341/325/120-B/109 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act.
