JAMMU, May 14: For empowerment of women of his constituency Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh who is representing Kathua, Udhampur, Doda Lok Sabha constituency has earmarked Rs 75 lakh out of his MPLAD fund to be specifically utilised for the works identified by the Mahila Morcha.
On the directives of Dr Jitendra Singh the sanction letter of works identified by Mahila Morcha has been handed over by Bharat Sharma, Sansad Pratinidhi of the MP to Neha Mahajan, president Mahila Morcha J&K BJP and Geeta Bhagat general secretary of the Morcha who is also its Prabhari for Kathua, Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituency.
This is for the first time that any MP has specifically earmarked the funds out of his MPLAD Fund for the works identified by Mahila Morcha said Bharat Sharma while talking to reporters on the occasion.
He said the funds will be utilised for developmental works like construction of toilet complexes, protection walls for security and safety of residential houses, construction of cremation grounds, , grave yards, lanes and drains, water tanks in and around public utility places and for construction of Yoga cum meditation centres.
He said such works will facilitate the common people of the villages and will infuse more strength, enthusiasm in the women folk for strengthening party and its ideology for better living standards.
Seeing the enthusiasm of the Mahila Morcha of Udhampur Kathua Parliamentary constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh has decided to earmark an amount of Rs 75 lakh for developmental works through Mahila Morcha in his constituency.
Talking to reporters both Neha Mahajan and Geeta Bhagat said that these works were identified by Mahila Morcha in their respective areas and they brought the same in the notice of Dr Jitendra Singh who was kind enough in providing the funds from MP LAD Fund for these works.
They said today the letter of works sanctioned was handed over to them by Bharat Sharma, Sansad Pratinidhi. They said Modi Government has already taken many initiatives for the women empowerment and this is another step in this direction as women were also made partners in identifying the development works in their respective areas.
