RAMBAN, May 13: MLA Sajjad Shaheen here today laid the foundation stone for an additional school building at High School Kaskoot, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 78.41 lakh.
The event was attended by Zonal Education Officer Khari, Principal HSS Banihal, Executive Engineer R&B, officials from various departments, local representatives, teachers, students and a large number of locals of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA also announced the donation of a water cooler, an AI-backed digital interactive panel and 100 desks for the school from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
He said that the demand for an additional school building was raised by the students and staff during his visit to the institution in October last year.
“Responding to the genuine concerns of the school administration and the students, the project was subsequently approved and taken up for execution,” the MLA maintained adding that the new building would help address space constraints and provide a better academic atmosphere for the students.
Highlighting the ongoing developmental works in Banihal-Gool Constituency, he said several major projects related to roads, bridges, healthcare, drinking water, education and rural infrastructure are currently underway across the region.
Shaheen expressed gratitude to the government led by Omar Abdullah for supporting developmental initiatives in the Constituency.
