NC welcomes RSS shift in stand on dialogue with Pak

Srinagar, May 13: National Conference (NC) chief spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq today welcomed what he termed as a “shift” in the RSS stand on dialogue with Pakistan, asserting that talks remain the only lasting solution to issues concerning J&K.
Speaking to reporters here, Sadiq said the National Conference has consistently advocated dialogue and diplomatic engagement, even while maintaining that retaliation is justified in the event of attacks.
“NC has always stood for dialogue. If you remember our history, we have always said that issues can only be sorted out through dialogue. If we are attacked, retaliation is fine, but in the end, dialogue is the only solution,” he said.
Welcoming recent remarks favouring engagement with Pakistan, Sadiq said he was “happy that finally the eyes of the RSS people have opened and they have understood that dialogue is the only solution.”
On the issue of liquor licences, Sadiq defended the National Conference Government and accused the PDP of issuing the majority of licences during its tenure in power.
“NC had the Finance Ministry in J&K for nearly 15 years and did not issue a single offline liquor licence. Nearly 100 such licences were issued during the period when NC was not in power,” he said.
He further alleged that among nearly 400 liquor shops in J&K, the maximum number of licences were issued during the PDP regime.
