UDHAMPUR, May 10: MLA Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania today dedicated and inaugurated several major developmental projects in Majalta area and reiterated that public participation remains the cornerstone of effective governance and sustainable development.
Amid a tumultuous and enthusiastic welcome by the people of the area, Pathania laid foundation stone of office building of CDPO Majalta, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.32 crore. He also dedicated newly built Panchayat Ghar projects worth Rs 30 lakh each for Panchayat Sumwal and Panchayat Chore Panjian.
Addressing a large public gathering, Pathania stated that development can become meaningful only when people actively participate in every stage of governance and implementation. He emphasized that people should not remain silent spectators but must become equal stakeholders in the selection of works, demand generation, execution, upkeep and maintenance of public assets.
Highlighting the vision of inclusive and sustainable rural transformation, Pathania announced that Thalora village, including Manwal, Devi Bani and adjoining areas, would be developed under the prestigious ‘Viksit Village’ Scheme with an outlay of nearly Rs 2 crore. This includes support from other departments/agencies too with implementation of CSSs on saturation mode and thereby giving a new impetus to rural development. He informed that the initiative would focus on women empowerment, Amrit Sarovar development, water conservation, plastic waste management, sports promotion, child development and welfare measures for senior citizens.
Pathania said that the scheme aims to create a model rural ecosystem based on sustainability, social participation and community welfare. He called upon the people to ensure maximum public participation so that developmental initiatives reach every household in an effective manner.
He further appreciated the active role of local residents in identifying public issues and cooperating with the administration for developmental works.
BDO Majalta, Tehsildar Majalta and officers and officials from various departments including Agriculture and Horticulture remained present during the programme and interacted with the public regarding various welfare and developmental initiatives.
Prominent among those present included Mohinder Sharma, Mohan Lal Sharma (both Mandal Pradhans), Uttam Singh, Som Nath Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, Devi Dass, Gurdev Singh, Vijay, Anil Sharma, Hem Raj Gupta, Shiv Ram, Mohan Lal, local residents and public representatives.
