Habitual drug peddler detained under PIT NDPS Act

UDHAMPUR, May 9: Police have detained a habitual drug peddler under PIT NDPS Act and lodged him in District Jail Udhampur.
The detention warrant against Sachin Kumar, son of Sham Lal, resident of near Kali Mata, Rehambal Udhampur, was issued by the competent authority.
According to Police, Sachin Kumar is a habitual offender involved in narcotics-related activities in the district. His continued involvement in the illicit drug trade posed a serious threat to public health and safety, particularly to the youth.
Meanwhile, District Police Udhampur seized 600 bottles of illegal liquor and arrested one bootlegger during naka checking at Krimchi.
Acting on specific information, a police team of PS Udhampur intercepted vehicle number JK11B-1631. During checking, police recovered 50 boxes containing 600 bottles of illicit liquor being transported illegally. The accused driver, identified as Jagdish Raj, son of Makhan Lal, resident of Patyan Ghar, Akhnoor was arrested on the spot. In this regard, FIR under Section 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.D
