JAMMU, May 2: The Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC), J&K, has welcomed the commencement of the long-awaited Jammu-Srinagar train service and urged the Railway authorities to include Anantnag as a halting station for the Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express.
In a statement, the GCC said exclusion of Anantnag station was causing inconvenience to passengers from Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts, besides adjoining areas of Pulwama, who are forced to travel to Srinagar and then return to their destinations.
The group said a halt at Anantnag would benefit a large number of passengers, tourists visiting Pahalgam and Shri Amarnath Yatris, and appealed to the Railways and the J&K Government to consider the demand.
