JAMMU, May 2: The 29th annual general body meeting of the Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) Jammu held, here today.
The meeting was presided over by CGPWA president Kuldeep Khoda and attended by a large number of former police and civil servants, including former DGP Dr Ashok Bhan, former chief secretary B R Sharma and former principal chief conservator of forest S D Swatantra.
During the meeting, two senior members and former IGPs, Prem Gupta and C L Banal, were conferred the CGPWA Award for their active participation and contribution to the association’s programmes since joining in June 2008.
Addressing the gathering, Kuldeep Khoda expressed concern over the wording related to “unfunded cost of non-contributory pension schemes” in the terms of reference of the 8th Central Pay Commission. He said pensioners across the country were worried following retrospective amendments to pension rules from 1972 through the Finance Act, 2025. He said CGPWA would present pensioners’ concerns before the commission.
Khoda announced that Baddi-Solan based Vrindavan Ayurveda Chikitsalyam would deliver a lecture at IIPA Jammu on May 7, followed by an OPD session.
Highlighting achievements of the association, he said CGPWA had secured empanelment of more reputed hospitals under CGHS for cashless treatment, organized three medical camps and health talks by super specialists, besides pursuing improvement in CGHS services in Jammu.
B R Sharma spoke on drug abuse and said he was coordinating an awareness campaign in Rajeev Nagar this month while general secretary K B Jandial presented the annual report and said transfer of State land for establishment of a CGHS hospital had been processed for approval of the Lieutenant Governor.
Treasurer O P Sharma presented the annual accounts, which were approved by the AGM. V K Padha welcomed the members, while Secretary B B Magotra presented the vote of thanks.
