Three drivers arrested for non-compliance of fitness documents

JAMMU, Apr 30: The Traffic Police Rural Jammu has arrested three drivers of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) and registered an FIR against them at Police Station Surankote for plying their vehicles without mandatory fitness certificates.
A Traffic Police official said the action was taken during routine checking at TCP Surankote, where it was observed that the drivers were plying their vehicles despite having been challaned and warned multiple times in the recent past for violations.
While the vehicles were seized on the spot, an FIR number 111/2026 under the relevant sections of the BNS was also registered at Police Station Surankote for rash and negligent driving, he said.
Among the vehicles seized were a XYLO (JK20-0290), a Sumo (JK11-9819), and a Tempo (JK11-4177).
While XYLO has been challaned 54 times, SUMO 5 times, and the Tempo 10 times in the past, the Traffic Police official said.
SSP Traffic Rural Jammu, Farooq Qaiser said the matter will also be taken up with the concerned authorities for cancellation of the RCs of the seized vehicles and the driving licenses of the arrested drivers.
Meanwhile, Qaiser urged all the vehicle owners and drivers to ensure strict compliance with fitness and safety requirements, warning that stringent action will continue against the violators.
