RAJOURI, Apr 30: The police seized an Excavator machine found engaged in unauthorized extraction of minor minerals and a vehicle (Tipper) at Darhali in Rajouri district today.
Reports said during routine inspection a machine bearing registration number 22Y210C000645 (Model No. SY210C-91), along with a vehicle bearing registration number JK11A-0534, was found actively involved in illegal mining at the site.
The use of such heavy machinery for minor mineral extraction is strictly prohibited under Rule 22(2) of the J&K Minor Mineral Concession, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016.
Taking cognizance of the violation, the police promptly seized both the Excavator and the vehicle on the spot. Further legal proceedings in the matter have been initiated.
