JAMMU, Apr 26: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the intervention of MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, MLA Ramnagar Dr Sunil Bhardwaj today inaugurated the implementation of long-awaited RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme) for strengthening and modernizing electricity infrastructure in Ramnagar.
The inauguration was held in the presence of officials from NTPC, PDD Sub-Division Ramnagar and prominent citizens of the area.
Dr Bhardwaj appreciated the people of Udhampur, particularly Ramnagar and stated that the scheme had been long awaited for District Udhampur. He said that he had consistently pursued the matter to ensure its implementation in the district. With the support and intervention of Dr Jitendra Singh, the scheme has now been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 180 crore for Udhampur district, with execution entrusted to NTPC Electrical Company.
Under the scheme, outdated transformers, electricity poles and transmission lines will be replaced and upgraded with modern infrastructure having sufficient capacity. Insulated supply lines will also be installed to improve safety and efficiency.
Dr Bhardwaj said that the project is expected to significantly reduce unscheduled power cuts, low-voltage issues, and transmission losses in Ramnagar. It will also provide major benefits to rural and remote areas where electricity infrastructure remains inadequate, while improving the city landscape by removing the tangled network of overhead wires.
He further stated that the implementation of RDSS will be carried out in a planned and phased manner by the company in coordination with the PDD Department over the coming months.
Dr Bhardwaj appealed to the citizens to cooperate fully with NTPC and PDD officials to ensure smooth and timely completion of the project.
Among those present on the occasion were Rajinder Sharma, Rameshwar, Rakesh Kharka, Kewal, Sham and other prominent citizens.
