Police attaches property worth Rs 45 lakhs of narco smuggler

UDHAMPUR, Apr 21: Udhampur Police has attached movable and immovable property worth Rs 45 lakhs belonging to alleged drug peddler Mohammad Rustum Shah, son of Nazir Ahmed Shah of Hamdania Colony, Nadihal, Baramulla under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
The attachment has been made in connection with FIR No. 59/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of Police Station Rehambal. During the course of investigation, it came to fore that the accused had acquired one residential house standing in the name of his wife Shanaza Akhter, falling under Survey No. 3036 Min situated at Hamdania Colony, Nadihal, Baramulla, along with one Dzire VXI car bearing Registration No. JK04H-977. The Investigating Officer of the case developed reason to believe that the said property had been acquired from the proceeds of illicit narcotics trade.
Accordingly, the said house along with land and vehicle has been attached under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act for further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, a police party of PS Rehambal apprehended a drug peddler during routine traffic checking at Zero Morh Rehambal. On his personal search, 3.58 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Vivek Choudhary, son of Raj Kumar Choudhary of Rehambal, Tehsil and District Udhampur.
