JAMMU, Apr 21: Police here today arrested three drug peddlers from different places and recovered heroin like substance from them.
Two drug peddlers were held from the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramgarh and about 10.44 gram heroin-like substance was recovered from them.
Acting on information from reliable sources, cops from Police Station Ramgarh intercepted two pedestrians coming from Rakh Barotian via Tarapur road and moving towards Gudwal side. During their frisking, about 10.44 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from them.
The drug peddlers were identified as Ashok Singh, son of Khajoor Singh, resident of Gooran Panasa, district Reasi and Nisar Ahmed, son of Mohd Hamid, resident of Dandesar, district Rajouri. They were arrested and the contraband seized.
A case in FIR No. 26/2026 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered in this regard at Police Station Ramgarh and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Samba Police arrested a drug peddler from the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur and recovered about 9.10 gram heroin-like substance from him.
Cops from Police Station Vijaypur during patrolling near SBI Vijaypur, intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02CP-4926 coming from Samba side and during its checking, about 9.10 grams heroin-like substance was recovered from the motorcyclist identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of Gulam Qadir, resident of Rakh Barotian, tehsil Vijaypur, district Samba. He was arrested and the contraband along with the motorcycle was seized.
A case in FIR number 61/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur in this regard and investigation started.
Janipur Police team headed by SHO Inspector Vikram Sharma today apprehended a local resident during a routine patrol and recovered an intermediate quantity of heroin from his possession.
The arrest was made near the Main Stop area of Janipur when a patrolling team, led by PSI Ranjeev Singh observed the suspect behaving suspiciously. On noticing the police presence, he attempted to evade the team but was swiftly intercepted. He was later identified as Keshav Bhat, a resident of Pamposh Colony, Janipur.
A search conducted on the spot led to the recovery of the contraband. The accused failed to provide any valid explanation or documentation for possessing the substance.
Accordingly, a case under FIR Number 50/2026 was registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and possible links of the recovered contraband.
