Mankotia inaugurates exhibition on Baba Jitto

JAMMU, Apr 17: MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia here today inaugurated a three-day painting exhibition at Kala Kendra. The exhibition on legendary ‘Baba Jitto’ witnessed participation from a large number of artists, writers and devotees.
The event was jointly organized by Kala Kendra and Baba Jitto Sangharsh Samiti.
Dr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary Kala Kendra, informed that a total of 33 students participated in the competition, presenting artworks inspired by Baba Jitto and his ideals. The artworks were judged by noted art historian, Dr. Lalit Gupta.
Addressing the gathering, Mankotia said that such programmes play a vital role in preserving history, strengthening social unity and promoting cultural values.
He observed that Baba Jitto continues to inspire society and deserves wider recognition.
MLA Surinder Bhagat listened to the demands raised by the Samiti like establishment of a library at the religious site, naming an indoor stadium after Baba Jitto and installation of his statue. He assured his support for such initiatives.
Earlier, the Samiti president, Pratap Singh Jamwal welcomed the guests.
He highlighted that Baba Jitto represents values of truth and dedication that resonate across regions and communities.
Prof. Vandhana Sharma, Head of the English Department at Cluster University and Mahant Hari Dutt of Jhiri Mandir also spoke on the occasion.
