Srinagar, Apr 15: Police today froze several properties of drug traffickers in a multi-pronged crackdown against narcotics and related violations in South Kashmir.
Police in Shopian attached a double-story residential house valued at Rs 25,87,734 belonging to Sajad Ahmad Mir resident of Bongam Shopian. The property was identified as having been acquired through proceeds generated from the illegal trade of drugs and narcotics.
“Accordingly, the property has been attached in connection with FIR No. 61/2020 & 133/2021 of Police Station Shopian,” a police spokesman said.
“The attachment proceedings were carried out in the presence of duly constituted police team, Executive Magistrate, Lambardar and Chowkidar, ensuring full compliance with all legal procedures and maintaining transparency,” he said.
Police in Anantnag launched a multi-pronged crackdown against narcotics and related violations, freezing properties worth Rs 2.25 crore, cancelling a driving licence in an NDPS case, and sealing a medical shop for illegal sale of medicines.
In an action targeting the financial backbone of drug trafficking, police froze four residential properties under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The properties, with a cumulative market value of around Rs 2.25 crore, were found to be linked to individuals allegedly involved in illicit narcotics trade.
The accused have been identified as Rayees Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar; Sabzar Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Rajab Dar; Mudasir Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Rahim Dar; and Zahid Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar— all residents of Tulkhan area of Bijbehara in Anantnag district.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the properties were allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from illegal drug activities, prompting the competent authority to order their freezing under provisions of the NDPS Act.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
In a separate action, police cancelled the driving licence of Shahzada Suvaid, son of Manzoor Ahmad Shah, a resident of Bataqund, Tral, in connection with FIR No. 83/2026 registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
Officials said the driving licence bearing number JK-1320150039016 was cancelled in accordance with legal provisions as part of proceedings in the case.
Meanwhile, in coordination with the Drug Department, police sealed a medical shop in Paibugh area of Mattan following credible inputs regarding the unlawful sale of medicines.
During inspection, the shop owner was found dispensing medicines without mandatory prescriptions from a registered medical practitioner, posing a serious risk to public health and safety.
