JAMMU, Mar 8: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Jammu and Kashmir Unit, has expressed serious concern over the recent increase in the prices of LPG cylinders and other essential commodities, which is putting a heavy financial burden on the common people.
A party spokesman said that the Government has recently increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 60 and commercial LPG cylinders by Rs. 120, which has further aggravated the financial difficulties of poor and middle-class families. The increase in commercial LPG cylinder prices has also badly affected small traders, shopkeepers, dhaba owners and other small business establishments who depend on these cylinders for their livelihood.
BSP also expressed concern over the continuous rise in the prices of petrol, diesel and essential food items such as milk, curd, food grains and other edible commodities, making daily life increasingly difficult for the common citizens.
The Party said that such frequent price hikes are adversely affecting household budgets, particularly of economically weaker sections, labourers, daily wage earners and small business operators who are already struggling to meet their basic needs.
The BSP urged the Government to immediately review and roll back the recent increase in the prices of both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders and take effective measures to control the rising prices of essential commodities. BSP also demanded that LPG, petrol and diesel should be brought under GST to provide relief to the general public.
