Old Janipur civil society flags long-pending civic issues

JAMMU, Feb 22: The Old Janipur Civil Society Action Committee today held a meeting under the chairmanship of Kulwant Singh Sambyal to deliberate on long-pending civic and infrastructure issues in Old Janipur and adjoining areas.
A large number of members participated and urged the authorities to take immediate steps for improving basic amenities, sanitation and security.
The committee highlighted that the Nallah sewerage and drainage system in Indira Colony, Daily Excelsior Lane (Ward No. 36) has been pending for the last eight years and needs to be completed before the onset of the rainy season.
Covering of the Nallah at Bread Factory Road in Mohalla Pandoka Colony, Shant Nagar was also demanded. The members called for installation of flood lights, construction of separate toilets for ladies and gents and beautification of the chowk at High Court Road.
Raising concern over the condition of JDA Park in Mohalla Ram Vihar, the committee sought its immediate handover to the Jammu Municipal Corporation and demanded installation of flood lights and four major CCTV cameras linked to the police station. They also stressed the need for green grass, fresh soil, renovation of bathrooms, repair of the Nag temple, pruning of old trees and construction of two halls for senior citizens.
The meeting further demanded infrastructure development and enhanced security in Ram Vihar and surrounding areas, renovation of the community hall at Mohalla Shant Nagar, creation of a new park at Patoli Chowk, Indira Vihar and repair of non-functional street lights, lanes, drains, tiles and blacktopping works in Wards 34, 35 and 36.
